A relaxed, well-planned wedding day that actually felt enjoyable!

Jess and Cody’s wedding at Crescent Hill Acres is such a good example of how a wedding day can feel calm, meaningful, and fun without being overcomplicated.

Everything about this day flowed really naturally, and that wasn’t by accident. The timeline made sense, the venue layout worked in their favour, and they had a solid vendor team supporting them. If you’re currently planning your own wedding, there are a lot of takeaways from this one.

Why Crescent Hill Acres Works So Well for Weddings

Crescent Hill Acres is one of those venues that just makes wedding days easier. You’ve got:

  • A house on the property to get ready

  • A beautiful Pine Forest ceremony space

  • A barn that works perfectly for dinner and dancing

  • Enough room to move through the day without feeling rushed

It’s especially great for couples who want an outdoor feel without needing to travel all over the place on their wedding day.

Getting Ready On-Site = Way Less Stress

12:30 PM – Getting ready at the house

Jess got ready in the house on the property, which honestly makes a huge difference. No driving around, no worrying about running late, everything happens in one place.

Hair and makeup were done by Vanity Studio Group, who always do a great job creating looks that last all day and still feel natural.

Jess found her dress at Jess & Co Bridal Boutique, and it suited her perfectly — timeless, flattering, and easy to move in (which matters more than you think for epic dance floor photos).

First Look: Always a Good Idea!

1:00–1:30 PM – First look and couple photos

Jess and Cody chose to do a first look, and it set such a nice tone for the day. It gave them a quiet moment together in the forest before everything started, and it took a lot of pressure off the ceremony.

From a planning standpoint, it also meant we could get a big chunk of photos done early which helped the rest of the day feel way more relaxed.

If you’re on the fence about a first look, this is your sign to seriously consider it.

Family & Wedding Party Photos That Didn’t Feel Rushed

1:30–2:40 PM – Family and wedding party photos

Because the first look was done earlier, family and wedding party photos went smoothly. No one felt stressed, and there was actually time for hugs and conversations ahead of the vows.

A Pine Forest Ceremony with a Personal Touch

3:30–4:15 PM – Ceremony

Guests arrived at 3:00 PM and were led into the Pine Forest for the ceremony, which was officiated by All Seasons Weddings.

Jess and Cody included a branding ceremony at the front of the aisle, which was such a meaningful moment and made their ceremony feel really personal. These kinds of details are always worth it, they make your ceremony feel like yours, not something copied from a template.

Cocktail Hour + Sunset Photos (Best Combo)

4:15–5:30 PM – Cocktail hour and sunset photos

While guests enjoyed cocktail hour we snuck Jess and Cody out for sunset photos. This is one of our favourite parts of the day, the light is softer, everyone’s relaxed, and it never feels rushed.

The florals by McLennan Flowers and Gifts fit the venue perfectly and tied everything together without feeling overdone.

A Reception Timeline That Just Worked

5:30 PM – Introductions in the barn6:00–7:30/8:00 PM – Dinner, speeches, and dances8:00 PM onward – Dancing

The reception flowed really naturally. Nothing felt drawn out, and once the dance floor opened, it stayed busy and the party never stopped!

What This Wedding Got Right

If you’re planning your own wedding, here are a few big takeaways from Jess and Cody’s day:

  • A realistic timeline makes everything better

  • First looks help keep the day calm and help you enjoy the cocktail hour

  • Getting ready on-site saves time and stress

  • Vendors who communicate well together matter more than you think

This wedding felt easy and fun, which is exactly how it should feel.
